Stained Glass Windows Anniversary

140 years ago, the parish of Ellerslie received a priceless gift of a full set of stained and painted glass windows. They originated from the prestigious firm of Clayton and Bell, crafted as a gift to a former friend and patron of a young apprentice artist and glass craftsman, Alfred Bell, to Albin Martin, now a parishioner of the newly established church in Ellerslie. Miraculously they all arrived intact and were installed precisely to their specifications. They have survived a fire, leaks, and the wear and tear of over a century of faithful worshippers.

As we celebrate and give thanks for 140 years of the windows and the life of Jesus which they depict, come and discover a beautiful example of glass artistry, a hidden gem!

The church will be open from 10:00am-12:00pm daily from Monday 13 January to Saturday 18 January. There will be knowledgeable hosts who can share the remarkable history of the windows. Or just take some time of quiet in a sacred space. Join us on Sunday 19 January at 9:30am for a thanksgiving service.

All ages are welcome and entry is free. A koha towards ongoing restoration and maintenance is appreciated.
